Meghna and Shashank - Millside Grange
Swapping their rented flat for a two-bedroom house with a garden in Croxley Green, Meghna and Shashank have found a slice of heaven at Millside Grange
One of an idyllic collection of new homes located in a tranquil Hertfordshire village, the newlywed couple’s choice reflects their evolving priorities. With aspirations to expand their family and live in a greener, more community-focused area, they now spend weekends walking in the beautiful countryside with their young Labradoodle, Joey, and embracing a more laid-back lifestyle.
“We didn’t even know we could buy the perfect first home in such a prime location, with the most wonderful garden, too. The kitchen is one of my favourite areas of the house. It’s an incredible space, ideal for entertaining and cooking meals for our family and friends. We’re very social – there’s always an extra car in our driveway!”
In our experience, Hill is the only housebuilder that wanted to help us to understand and find our dream home. It’s a daunting time but we felt very comfortable throughout. This support was shown to us from the first day we visited Millside Grange and contributed to our decision to buy a house from Hill.
Leaving our apartment in London was the right decision for us. I’m so looking forward to our future here and getting to know the neighbours well – everyone says hello to each other and it’s a lovely atmosphere."
Sam & Stuart - Marleigh, Cambridge
Sam and Stuart purchased a three-bedroom property at our popular Marleigh development in Cambridge. Having originally stepped on the property ladder via Shared Ownership, they decided to switch to a Hill home using the Help to Buy scheme.
“My mum had always talked about ‘Andy Hill’ houses, and said that he was a great housebuilder. Upon viewing the new homes at Marleigh we soon realised that she was correct. The standard of property on offer is unrivalled, and the customer service we have received throughout the buying process has been second to none."
Josie Afolabi - Marleigh, Cambridge
Josie took the decision to purchase a two-bedroom coach house at Marleigh following a virtual tour of the show apartment. After previously viewing Hill properties, she knew she could trust that the quality of her new home would meet her high standards.
"I loved the idea of Marleigh being built around community spirit and a place where neighbours can truly get to know one another, which is particularly important to me as I am purchasing my property alone. This, coupled with the charm of Cambridge, completely won me over. My friends had a big impact on my decision, with a number of them having visited Hill properties before and recommending them to me. I could see that many of my friends in London wished they were surrounded by more greenery and wanted their own private outdoor space since we’re all spending much more time at home, so for those reasons I chose to settle in Cambridge. As I had already viewed other Hill homes, I knew that the quality would be up to my high standards, and the virtual tour showed me everything I needed to make my decision, even down to the more granular details such as fixtures, flooring and carpets.”
Gill Lack - St James Quay, Norwich
Gill decided to move from her two-bedroom house in the country for a one-bedroom apartment in Norwich city centre, with lockdown helping her realise she wanted to live in a location with variety, and within walking distance of wherever she needed to be.
"I had heard about St James’ Quay and quickly booked a visit as there were two plots that I was interested in and didn’t want to miss out. I was very impressed with the fixtures and fittings and was surprised to hear that they came as standard, there isn’t anything that I would change in terms of finish and specification. My apartment has everything I need. I live alone so decided to purchase a one bedroom property - its on the second floor and feels very safe. I am really looking forward to having balcony, it’s less upkeep which is a bonus, but my balcony is also south facing and has uninterrupted views of the river – I can imagine myself there with a friend drinking prosecco on a warm summers day!"
Slava & Evelina Campbell - Keepers Green, Chichester
Slava and his wife, Evelina, both 32 years old, decided to purchase their first home at our Keepers Green development in Chichester, to raise their family with beautiful beaches, countryside walks and national tourist attractions on their doorstep. They purchased a three bedroom semi-detached house.
"It would’ve been years until we could afford to purchase a house of this size if it were not for Help to Buy. Our children are getting bigger and we were set on purchasing a property that provides the space they require to learn and grow. We actually went to view a different Hill property, but another plot unexpectedly came available that morning, so we took a look around that and instantly fell in love. We then cancelled our other viewings, sorted our financial paperwork and drove back down the next day to reserve our new home!”
Matthew Baxter - Fish Island Village, Hackney Wick
Matthew Baxter purchased a one-bedroom apartment at award-winning Fish Island Village. Having been renting a house share in London with friends, he decided it was time to settle down and find his own home in the Capital.
"As soon as I began hunting for a home I knew that a new build property was my preferred option. I wanted a home that I could move into without having to spend time decorating or renovating, and had all I needed on the doorstep. I was extremely impressed by the Fish Island Village development, from the range of facilities and selection of properties on offer right down to the staff. Everything about Fish Island Village met my requirements, along with the availability of the London Help to Buy scheme - it was a no brainer to purchase my first ever home here.”
Daniel & Yric - Harrow One, London
Two friends, Daniel and Yric, purchased a two-bedroom apartment together at Harrow One, London. As they were already living in the area, their move to Harrow One meant they could remain in the location they work in and love, whilst making the switch from renting to buying.
“When Daniel asked me if I would consider buying a property with him, it made perfect sense. Not only do we live together but we’ve also been colleagues at Harrow’s Northwick Park Hospital for over 10 years. We’d had our eyes on Harrow One, which we’d been watching transform from a pile of bricks into two beautiful apartment blocks. On visiting, we were both immediately taken with the look and feel of the scheme – and the fact that we would have our own private balcony. Our apartment is also right by the train station so it’s easy to venture out to meet with friends and family. I am pretty excited about the underfloor heating and energy-efficient appliances! We also have a smart meter, which we haven’t had before so we’re looking forward to using that to help us save on energy bills.”
Annamaria - Mosaics, Oxford
First-time buyer Annamaria upsized from her one-bedroom rental property in Oxford City centre to purchase her new two-bedroom apartment at our award-winning development Mosaics, located just ten minutes out of the City.
"I’m a fitness lover and like many people over recent months, I’ve started doing my yoga practices and fitness workouts in my new living room. I’m very grateful to now have the space to do this but also have the option of exercising outside. Mosaics backs on to beautiful woodland trails and open green spaces – a welcome change from the bustle of the city centre and means I have lots of new spots to explore on my runs. I have been surprised at just how peaceful it is at my new apartment, it almost feels as though I am deep in the rural countryside. Whilst I enjoy the calm environment, which is a big change from my previous city apartment, I do also love knowing that I’m just a few miles away from Oxford City centre.”
