BUILDERS

We were delighted to welcome the Redbrick Residents Association and L&Q as we began demolition on the final phase of New Union Wharf. The development is a multi-phase estate regeneration development in the Isle of Dogs, which once complete will have provided L&Q with 399 new homes, in addition to improvement works the existing Thames Wall.

The demolition of the existing buildings in the final phase will make way for 201 new apartments and maisonettes, as well as communal areas, with the completed development of 399 homes stretching across a number of buildings including five striking tower blocks along the waterfront.

A selection of residents who had lived in the building set to be demolished joined the event to mark the end of their journey having moved in to the most recent phase of new homes at New Union Wharf. The newest set of homes in place of the demolished buildings are anticipated to complete in the summer of 2022.

It was emotional to witness the demolition of homes where memories were made, however at the same time it is exciting to know that the next and final development phase is underway!

Penny, chair of the New Union Wharf Redbrick Residents Association

The demolition itself should take around four months, and before the construction itself starts the team will have to renew the existing Thames River Wall.
