Hill joins The 5% Club
We are proud to announce that we have become a member of The 5% Club – an industry-led initiative focused on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
The 5% club was created by the defence technology company QinetiQ with the aim to get the UK’s public and private companies to commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes across 5 years.
At Hill, we work hard to bring young people into the housebuilding industry, and joining The 5% Club reaffirms our commitment address the industry’s skills shortage. By joining this initiative, we have committed to ensuring that 5% of our workforce will be made up of sponsored students and graduates by 2022 – currently, we have 14% of our total workforce within our Management Trainee Programme, with the majority falling within the 18-24 age bracket.
Our Management Trainee Programme gives young people the opportunity to work towards a BSc (Hons) degree while gaining invaluable on-the-job experience. During term-time, our trainees work for four days a week, and attend university on the fifth day, and throughout their time at Hill are monitored and supported by an experienced, professional network. Benefits of our Management Trainee Programme include the opportunity to have a company car and fuel card as individuals progress and gain more experience, as well as the guarantee of a job after graduation and zero student loans or tuition fees.
We’re delighted to welcome Hill to the initiative. The company’s existing efforts to invest in the next generation are greatly welcomed and together we can strive towards a brighter future for young people in Britain.
