Ilan Square comes out victorious at the British Homes Awards!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Ilan Square, our joint venture development with Hanover and Agudas Israel Housing Association (AIHA), has won Best Affordable Housing Development at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards!
The unique development had previously won two Housing Design Awards: a project award for its design, and a HAPPI award for its innovative design for the ageing population, and we are delighted to be able to add this British Homes Award to its impressive list of accolades.
Made up of three blocks in Hackney, the 107 new homes in Ilan Square provide a mix of private sale apartments, extra care apartments for Hanover and shared ownership and affordable rent apartments for AIHA. These centrally located homes overlook London Square and Clapton Common, and we worked closely with our development partners to ensure that we accommodated the various practical and cultural needs of the different apartments.
The private sale homes consist of one, two and three bedrooms apartments, and are designed with a stunning open-plan living arrangement, as well as benefiting from amenities such as under-floor heating and video entry phones – making them ideal for first time buyers and small families. The extra care apartments for Hanover provide accommodation for the elderly in Hackney, and follow the HAPPI (Housing our Aging Population: Panel of Innovation) design principles. Not only are the apartments accessible, but the block also provides health and wellbeing services for residents to enjoy. Finally, the apartments created for AIHA were all created with the needs of the Orthodox Jewish Community in mind. The homes include a wash basin near the front door, a secondary sink in the kitchen for kosher food preparation, and staggered balconies to provide a clear view of the sky in accordance with the Sukkot festival.
We’re now working with Agudas Israel Housing Association to create Ilan Square’s sister development, Aviv, an exciting regeneration development in Stamford Hill. This thriving multicultural area is just a 10 minute walk from Stamford Hill railway station, and offers 29 one, two, three and four bedroom apartments that will all benefit from carefully considered specifications, similar to the homes in our Ilan Square development.
